Genesis Towers
Genesis Towers, formerly known as Hotel Gary, is a significant historical landmark in downtown Gary, Indiana. Constructed in 1926, this 10-story, 400 room hotel was built in a Classical Revival style that reflected the grandeur of the era. Over the decades, the building has undergone several transformations, reflecting the city’s economic fluctuations and demographic changes. Hotel Gary closed its doors in 1974 and by 1981, the building was repurposed into affordable housing for seniors and individuals with disabilities, renamed Genesis Towers.
Genesis Towers holds historical and cultural importance for the Gary community, representing both the city’s past prosperity and its resilience in the face of adversity.
