Join us for an evening on Chicago’s East Side for an exclusive look inside the landmark East Side Tap, including a tour, presentations, drinks, and more!

The evening begins with a presentation by Mike Medina, one of the Tap’s owners, for a look at their restoration progress so far and a tour of the building. Following Mike’s presentation will be a discussion of the broader historical context of bars/taverns as social anchors in industrial, working class communities like the East Side, led by Mike and Preservation Futures

Guests are encouraged to bring $5 cash to purchase items from the Tap’s Art-O-Mat machine – a repurposed cigarette vending machine that now sells small works of art.

The exhibition showcases the region’s natural, industrial, and cultural heritage thorough partnerships with 15 local Calumet museums and history centers.
